What will I do when I earn my MP3 player?

I think for my new MP3 player, I will use it mainly for audiobooks. I think that listening to it while I work out at the gym. I'm a student at SCC, so any reading that isn't from a textbook is considered a blessing. I'm really glad that the learn 2.0 course has taught me how to use downloadable audio books, so therefore; I can burn some calories while I read! :-)

Artist Rights Debate

I really feel that listeners should rightfully pay for an artists music. They spent years perfecting their work-shouldn't they get paid for it?

On the other hand, it is possible that due to free downloading that an artist has potential to make money. For example, lets say a friend of mine has given me a copy of a downloaded CD. Let's say that I realize I love the band and in return, I go see their concert next week and while Im there, I purchase a T-shirt, and a drink from the bar. Because of my downloaded CD, I have gone to see the concert, purchased one of the bands goods, and helped my local economy with the drink.

I'm not sure exactly who I agree with more- the artist or the listener?

Week 8

I'm really enjoying online learning. I'm starting after Learn 2.0, so I am catching up on my own pace. I really like it so far.

At my branch we all going through training on Learn 2.0 and why it is essential for OCLS and Library future. There are a few people who have completed the course, however the majority of us have just begun. I am teaching some of my fellow staff about the features of Learn 2.0 and bits and pieces about the course.

OCLS Social Networking

I think that OCLS adapting to the current times with the Social Network site myspace is great. Since myspace has millions of profiles, it is a great site to advertise OCLS classes and programs to tweens, teens, and college students.Since its a free site it gives OCLS the potential of advertising to a group which is hard to reach for nothing.

One of my favorite sites!

Current is one of my all time favorite websites for news, and I had no idea until the Learn 2.0 class at OCLS that it was a web 2.0.

http://current.com/

Is a great news source. People from all across the world submit news articles and viewer created content to be broadcasted on the website and on the current channel which I think is like in the 160's if you have Bright House. It keeps me informed about conflict in the middle east and scientific studies. Plus, the channels shows like "InfoMania" and "Supernews!" are awesome.

Hobbies- "2.0"!!!!!!

Besides reading, one of my biggest passions is music. I had heard about Pandora from a friend about how awesome it was, and I have to agree. Pandora is great for keeping me informed about bands that sound like the musicans I already adore.

Grokker

Since I was new to the program, I found Grokker very difficult to use at first. However, once I began to play around with the different subjects, such as libraries I thought it was cool how the system grouped the sub-categories.
